Tala Child Safety Policy

Effective Date: December, 2025

Tala is dedicated to providing a safe, positive, and inclusive social audio environment for all users. As a platform serving users in the Middle East and globally, we maintain a Zero Tolerance Policy regarding any form of exploitation, abuse, or endangerment of children (individuals under the age of 18). Protecting minors is our highest priority, and any violation of this policy will result in immediate and permanent account termination and, where necessary, reporting to law enforcement authorities.

1. Age Restriction

  • 18+ Policy: Tala is strictly designed for adult users. You must be at least 18 years of age to download, register, or use Tala.
  • Prohibition on Misrepresentation: Any attempt to misrepresent your age, falsify your date of birth, or use another person's identity to bypass our age restrictions is strictly prohibited. If we discover that a user is underage, we will immediately freeze or delete the account.

2. Prohibited Activities & Content

To protect minors from harm, Tala strictly prohibits the following behaviors across all features, including Voice Chat Rooms, profile photos, "Moments" (posts), comments, and private messages:

2.1 Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation (CSAE)

  • Zero Tolerance: We strictly prohibit the creation, uploading, transmission, or solicitation of any content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of minors.
  • Inappropriate Content: Any depiction of "child pornography," including nudity, discussions of pedophilia, sexualized role-playing (e.g., changing voice to sound like a child for sexual gratification), or related artwork (e.g., anime/drawings with sexualized minors) is banned.

2.2 Dangerous Behaviors Involving Minors

  • Harm & Grooming: We prohibit threatening, inducing, or encouraging minors to engage in self-harm, suicide, or any high-risk activities.
  • Cyberbullying & Predatory Behavior: Harassment, psychological abuse, or "grooming" (building an inappropriate emotional connection with a minor via voice chat for sexual abuse) is strictly forbidden.

2.3 Presence of Minors in Voice Rooms

  • No Minors on Microphone: Minors are not allowed to host or participate in Voice Chat Rooms on Tala. Even if the account holder is an adult, minors are not permitted to speak on the microphone or interact with other users in the room.
  • No Commercial Exploitation: It is strictly forbidden to use a minor's voice or image (in profile photos) to solicit gifts, beg for money, or engage in any commercial activity.

3. Detection & Enforcement

Tala invests heavily in multi-layered security measures, optimized for audio-centric interactions and the linguistic context of the Middle East:

  • Audio & Text Analysis: We utilize advanced AI recognition systems (ASR - Automatic Speech Recognition) to detect keywords, abusive language, or inappropriate content in voice chats and text messages in real-time.
  • Image Recognition: We strictly monitor user profile photos and uploaded content to ensure no images of minors are used.
  • Human Moderation: We employ a professional safety team (fluent in Arabic, English, and other relevant languages) to review high-risk audio rooms and reports around the clock.
  • Penalties:
    • Immediate Ban: Accounts confirmed to belong to a minor will be permanently banned.
    • Device Blocking: Users found distributing CSAE content or grooming minors will have their devices permanently blocked and will be reported to relevant authorities.

4. Reporting Mechanism

Maintaining a safe community requires your vigilance. If you hear or see any content suspected of harming minors, please report it immediately:

  • In-App Reporting: Tap the "Report" button in the Voice Room or on the user's profile and select "Underage" or "Child Endangerment." We prioritize these reports.
  • Email Reporting: You can send evidence (screen recordings, User IDs, timestamps) to our Safety Center at: safety@tayaapp.live.
  • Law Enforcement Cooperation: For severe cases, Tala will report to the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) or local law enforcement agencies in the MENA region (such as the UAE Ministry of Interior Child Protection Centre) and fully cooperate with investigations.

5. Note to Parents & Guardians

  • If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under 18 is using Tala without permission, please contact us immediately. Upon verification, we will assist you in deleting the account and removing all related data.
  • We strongly recommend that parents utilize device-level "Parental Controls" to manage app downloads and screen time for their children.

6. Commitment to Compliance

Tala is committed to adhering to international laws and local regulations in the Middle East (including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, etc.). We continuously update our technologies and policies to remain a leader in child safety protection within the social audio industry.
